  2. Here is how to get the most out of Your Multisync Monitor connected
  3. to Your Apple:
  4.  
  5. With Apple's New Multiple-Scan-Monitor-Software which works on all Quadras
  6. You can switch the resolution of Your screen without shutting down Your Mac
  7. or pulling switches or changing Adapters!
  8. So first get a copy of this Software.
  9.  
  10. Second You have to tell Your Mac that the Monitor supports Multiple Frequencies:
  11. get 2 Sub-D 15-Pin connectors, one male, one female.
  12. get 1 Diode.
  13. connect all Pins but 4,7,10 straight between the two connectors.
  14. on the male side of the connector short pins 4 and 11 with a wire.
  15. connect the diode between pin 7 and 10 of the male connector in
  16. a way that the black ring on the diode points to pin 7.
  17. Now put this adapter between your mac and Your Video-Cable
  18.  
  19.  
  20.     You now got an 20'' multiple Scan Monitor!
  21.     You may switch between all Apple-Resolutions ranging
  22.     from 640*480, 832*624, 1024*768 to 1178*870 Dots
  23.  
  24.     But Be careful not to damage Your Monitor with the high resolutions!

  37. RELATED NOTES:
  38. - if your Monitor runs without the apple-software and simply goes dark
  39.   if the apple-m-scan-software is installed your cable adapter needs an
  40.   update because the apple software switches off the sync-signal from
  41.   the green-video. simply buy a new apple to VGA-adapter which supports
  42.   an extra sync line! (all new machines made by apple up from LC-III have no
  43.   sync on green because of energy-star-compatible reasons (????)
  44.   If You use an Monitor with BNC-Connectors You may connect pin 3 with 
  45.   the Composite Sync on your monitor (ground to Pin 11) or  14 to H-Sync
  46.   and 12 to V-sync (gournd on 11) instead of buying a new cable!
  47.   Machines with sync on green are Quadra 700, Quadra 900/950 and some
  48.   other.
  49. - The adapter should also work with the LC475/Performa 475 or newer models
  50.   because this is the same Video as in the Q610
  51.   maybe also in some LCIII and on some 8*24 and 8*24GC Cards
